1. Kasol, Himachal Pradesh


If you want to re-energize yourself with some cool and pure mountain air then this is the place to be. The place is known as the “Amsterdam” of the east and boasts of one of the best places that have natural beauty, in the country. You can spend your leisure time admiring the snow-capped mountains or the lazy river meandering down the valley. Kasol is a quaint little village with several beautiful places around that you should not miss. These include Parvati River with its clear gushing water, trekking amidst the lush forests, Manikaran Gurudwara and more. This place has a large Israeli population who come here for long holidays and to take in the crisp, pure mountain air and enjoy the environment.

2. Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh


This tourist destination is in the lap of nature with majestic snow-covered peaks of the Himalayan mountains and the River Brahmaputra gently running through the area. It was recently opened to tourists by the local Government to showcase the tribal culture and heritage. The major attractions of this place include a fifteenth century Ita Fort, the Ganga Lake with boating – also known as Gyakar Sinyi. Other places of interest include Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary, Gompa Buddhist Temple, Namdapha National Park etc. Also, do not miss the Buddha Vihar which was consecrated by the Dalai Lama.

3. Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu


Pondicherry lies in the southeast coast line of India in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. The place offers natural beauty with pristine beaches and a laid-back atmosphere. There are many options for accommodations including Aurobindo Ashram which offers subsidized meals and stay as well. At one time it was a French territory and is called the “French Riviera”. This place still retains some of its French characteristics. It is a quaint place with mustard color colonial villas with bougainvillea and cozy cafes offering French cuisine and beverages. 4. Goa

It is the smallest state in the country and it used to be a Portuguese colony until it was liberated in December 1961. Some of the old churches, crumbling forts and other Portuguese style structures are still standing. The major attraction in Goa is its beaches where people come to soak in some sun and have unmatched fun. It includes Baga, Calangute, Anjuna and Arambol. Goa is in perpetual celebration mode with tourists letting their hair down at the numerous bars, beach shacks, cafes, clubs, floating casinos and discos. A major event held during the year is the “Carnival”. Goa is well connected with all the states by air and rail.

5. Nainital, Uttarakhand

Nainital lies in the midst of the mountains, lush green forests and clean mountain air. It is a hill station located at the foothills of the Kumaon ranges in Uttarakhand. It is an extremely popular destination because it is very close to Dehradun and Delhi. What attracts the tourist to this place is the very pleasant weather throughout the year. There are several places of tourist interest here that include the Naini Lake, Eco Cave Garden, Snow View Point, Mall Road, Zoo, Naina Devi Temple, Nainital Ropeway, Naina Peak, Neem Karoli Baba Ashram, etc.

6. Sikkim


Sikkim was an autonomous kingdom until 1975, after when it became an integral part of India. It was an ancient country with its own culture and traditions. The population is mostly Nepalese with native Bhutias and Lepchas. Sikkim is full of Hindu shrines all over the country. Kanchenjunga, in Sikkim is the third highest peak in the world and its majestic view can be enjoyed from most parts of the state. The winters are freezing and the summers are cool. Some of the tourist attractions include Nathula pass, Rumtek Monastery, Tsomgo Lake, Ganesh Tok and many others. Cheap accommodations are available all over Sikkim.

7. Udaipur, Rajasthan


Udaipur lies in the state of Rajasthan and is also known as the city of lakes. It is in the midst of the imposing Aravali hills. It has natural beauty, intricately carved temples with stunning architecture that justifies its name as the “Jewel of Mewar”. Udaipur offers a lot of tourist sites that should not be missed.
