As a cranky girl in her late teens, I was one amongst the innumerable girls who suffered from pimples, oily skin, high stress and body consciousness. Well here, I am not trying to make a conclusive statement that pimples or acne can be cured completely by diet and adequate hydration. Apart from poor diet, they are also a result of different medical conditions such as PCOS, hormonal issues, acute stress, depression etc. Hence, a one stop solution to all of these concerns would be to watch what you put inside your mouth. This cannot guarantee one, the ‘perfect skin’; but this can definitely wipe out a person’s woes to such an extent that he or she wouldn’t feel miserable whilst looking at himself or herself in the mirror.

From my perspective and personal experiences; your intake is what determines your outer appearance. A healthy gut system promotes better looking skin and is still an underrated aspect that is overlooked upon. So, one must ensure that one’s gut system is healthy by incorporating adequate amounts of fiber in the form of fruits, nuts and leafy vegetables along with drinking lots of water. Probiotics such as kefir, yogurt, fresh sauerkraut and supplements are instrumental in increasing the number of good bacteria in the gut. Small lifestyle changes ought to be made; if a consequential variation in the texture of the skin is expected to be seen. One can incorporate the changes in a systematic manner so as to benefit from the long-term advantages of it. Start with inculcating the practice of exercising, preferably in the mornings or any other time of the day; as per your convenience. Other than these requisite changes, it is mandatory to keep drinking water throughout the day; so as to keep the skin hydrated, fresh and supple. Digestive stimulants like caffeine and alcohol must be avoided as they play a significant role in the disruption of the digestive process that can invariably affect the texture of the skin.

Hence, these small lifestyle alterations would ultimately result in a healthy gut system that would eventually promote healthier and better-looking skin on the outside.
