It is a Radar based technology which is percussor to the development of autonomous technology for future models. The system has complex sub-systems that processor the environment on a real time basis and takes corrective action whenever required. The ADAS technology has several features which include the following:
• Adaptive Cruise Control
The vehicle has sensors that detects the speed of other vehicles around you and automatically adjusts the speed accordingly. This feature is important when the driver misjudges the speed of other traffic on the road.
• High Beam Assist
At times some drivers coming from the opposite use their high beam. This blinds the drivers from the oncoming traffic. It is a risk situation, especially in the dark. The ADAS high beam assist switches the headlight to low beam to avoids any untoward incident.
• Traffic Sign Recognition
This feature enables you to keep within the speed limits on the road. Even if you have missed a road speed sign, the system will detect the sign. It will then reduce the speed accordingly.
• Automatic Emergency Braking System
Sometimes pedestrians, cyclists, jaywalkers and animals (on highways) suddenly come into the path of the vehicles. An accident can take place if the driver is not alert. The Automatic emergency braking system senses such situations and applies the brakes.
• Driver Drowsiness System
This is an important feature in the XUV 700. The system detects when the driver is not concentrating on the road or when the driver is drowsy. It enables you to set this function with the voice of someone close to you. The feature alerts you when you are going at higher than normal driving speed.
The XUV 700 is available in both versions – petrol or diesel engines. The vehicle has a 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine while the diesel version has a 2.2 litre mHawk Turbo diesel engine. The vehicle is available as a manual or automatic transmission options.
