As per the latest news reports, Mobile Premier League (MPL) is all set to get funding from FTX which would put the online gaming company’s valuation at USD 2.5 billion. MPL is a Bangalore-based online gaming brand which offers verticals like fantasy sports, esports, online rummy and online poker.
The news reports state that MPL is in talks with several firms across the world. FTX, which is a cryptocurrency brand, is also reportedly in talks with MPL. The cryptocurrency exchange brand is based out of Nassau, the capital city of Bahamas.
MPL currently offers over 60 games on its platform and since the IPL season is underway, players can win big with its fantasy sports vertical. As per media reports, MPL told its investors that the brand is looking to venture into ‘play to earn’ Non Fungible Tokens (NFT) games.
News reports state that with the latest round of funding, MPL could make a grand entry into the sphere of play to earn games.
In September 2021, MPL had reportedly raised USD 150 million. MPL pre-funding valuation stood at USD 2.3 billion. This also made MPL the second unicorn in the online gaming space. MPL also has operations outside India. The online gaming brand launched operations in the United States and also hit the two year mark in Indonesia. News reports state that MPL has over 85 million users across the globe and will only grow further. The online gaming brand has brought former Indian Captain Virat Kohli on board as brand ambassador.
Media reports on MPL state that the online gaming firm is looking to find the right investors to raise funds. This will take the online gaming brand’s valuation at USD 2.5 billion which would indeed be a milestone for MPL.
